Emirates Airlines Launches Meal Preordering for Inflight Dining Experience
Emirates Airlines has embarked on an innovative initiative, allowing customers to preselect their hot main meal between 14 days and 24 hours before their flight. This new service ensures passengers get their preferred meal choice every time while also contributing to the reduction of food wastage. The rollout of this meal preordering program is scheduled to commence from 25 July in Business Class, applicable to all flights between Dubai and London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and London Stansted. This addition further enhances the Emirates customer experience, improving time management and providing valuable insights into meal consumption onboard.
The meal preordering service will be integrated with Emirates' existing suite of AI-enabled customer preference tracking data and cabin crew reports, which facilitate efficient menu planning and optimal food loading. This combination ensures a premium 'restaurant in the sky' inflight dining experience for passengers. Passengers can explore the onboard menu on Emirates.com or the Emirates app up to 14 days before their flight and select from a range of regionally inspired dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients. For those with special dietary requirements, pre-ordering special meals will also be an option.
Onboard, the cabin crew will use a custom-built application on a device to access the passengers' meal selections and serve them with their chosen hot dish. Emirates plans to expand this meal preordering initiative to more routes and travel classes in the near future and is closely monitoring customer feedback during the initial rollout phase.
This meal preordering service is part of Emirates' commitment to offering digitally enabled journeys with increased convenience for passengers. In addition to website and app check-in, digital boarding passes, and itinerary management, passengers can access digital menus in advance and join Emirates Skywards for free connectivity based on their tier membership and class of travel. They can also create personalized playlists of their favorite movies, TV shows, and music on ice (the inflight entertainment system), which can be seamlessly synchronized from their app to their TV screen upon boarding. Emirates passengers are also invited to provide feedback and insights through a quick digital survey on the inflight entertainment screen, ensuring continual improvements and an enhanced flying experience with Emirates.
